🔧 Installation Guide

Step 1: Install webSlinger Extension

1

Install from Chrome Web Store

Visit the webSlinger page on the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome"

2

Pin Extension to Toolbar

Click the puzzle piece icon in Chrome's toolbar and pin webSlinger for easy access.

Step 2 (Optional): Install keyCocoon Extension

For secure credential management and MFA automation

1

Install keyCocoon from Chrome Web Store

Install keyCocoon for zero-knowledge credential storage and TOTP generation

2

Pin Extension to Toolbar

Pin keyCocoon for easy access to your credentials during automation.

Step 3: Download and Run Installer

The installer sets up native messaging hosts required for webSlinger to work (Windows only)

1

Download webSlinger Setup

Download the setup package

Windows 10/11 only

2

Extract the ZIP

Right-click the downloaded file and select Extract All, then choose a location.

3

Run setup.bat

Open the extracted folder and double-click setup.bat. The installer will:

  • Detect your installed extensions (webSlinger and keyCocoon if present)
  • Install taskSpinner (file operations and task scheduling)
  • Install keyBunker if keyCocoon is detected (credential management)
  • Install a bundled Python runtime (no system Python needed)
  • Create a scheduled task for taskSpinner to run every 5 minutes
  • Add KeyBunker to your Start Menu (under webSlinger)
4

Restart Chrome

Close all Chrome windows and restart Chrome to activate native messaging connections.

Step 4: Configure Your Account

1

Get Your API Key

Subscribe to webSlinger and get your API key from the Account page

2

Enter API Key in Extension

  • Click the webSlinger extension icon
  • Go to Settings
  • Paste your API key
  • Click Save

Using KeyBunker

KeyBunker is the credential manager for keyCocoon. It securely stores your website login credentials and TOTP secrets.

1

Launch KeyBunker

Open the Start Menu, type KeyBunker, and click to launch. You'll find it under webSlinger > KeyBunker.

2

Set Your Master Password

On first launch, create a master password. This encrypts your credential vault. KeyBunker never stores your master password.

3

Add Credentials

Add your website credentials (domain, username, password) and optional TOTP secrets. During automation, keyCocoon will inject credentials directly into login forms without exposing them to webSlinger.

Troubleshooting

Extension not detected by installer?

Make sure you installed webSlinger from Chrome Web Store first and that it's enabled in chrome://extensions/

Installation directory

webSlinger installs to %LOCALAPPDATA%\webSlinger (typically C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\webSlinger)

Uninstalling

Open the Start Menu and select webSlinger > Uninstall Native Components. This removes keyBunker, taskSpinner, the bundled Python runtime, registry entries, scheduled tasks, and Start Menu shortcuts. Your Chrome extensions are not affected.
